The Air Jordan 17 was released in 2002. Michael joined the Washington Wizards as President of Basketball Operations in January of 2000 and selected Kwame Brown with the top overall pick in the 2001 NBA Draft. On September 25th 2001 he resigned his position and instead signed a player contract.

The Air Jordan 16 combines aspects from previous Air Jordans. For example, you can see the patent leather located on the toe from the Air Jordan 11, the ribbed leather gaiter similar to the uppers of the Air Jordan 14 (XIV). Also, the 3/4 midcut from the Air Jordan 3, and the mesh uppers from the Air Jordan 5.This was the year that Michael came out of retirement for the second time to join the Washington Wizards. The only problem with these is traction, as they do not feature enough rubber on the sole. If you find yourself running at top speed and decide to come to a dead stop, you will find yourself sliding across the hardwood. Other features of the shoe include a hidden quick lace system, carbon fibre sheath, patent leather, Zoom Air insoles, and a Jordan shroud, which is a covering for the laces, made from full grain leather.

The Air Jordan 15 was released in 1999/2000. This was it. The first shoe after Michael’s retirement. It could’t have been easy for Nike/JB to decide to release a shoe when the athlete that was 100% connected to this product had just retired. But the decision turned out to be good.
The Air Jordan 15 Retro LS - Laser ( Black / Metallic Gold - White ) were released on December 22, 2007, and retailed for $160. They were designed by Tinker Hatfield, and inspired by the X-15 Fighter Jet but are referred to by many as the most hideous shoe in the Air Jordan lineup, they made their return on Jordan Brands members only “Flight Club“. The Air Jordan 15 Retro – Black / Varsity Red also released as an online Flight Club exclusive. These feature lasered artwork which displays a variety of Air Jordan soles and a Black, White and Metallic Gold color-way. Other specifications include a hidden lace system, seamless dynamic fit sleeve and Zoom Air insoles. They also feature an injected TPR external heel counter for additional support. The outsole is constructed from two pieces with extended wraps, as well as rubber herringbone pods for increased traction.

The Air Jordan 12 was released in 1996/1997. In the 96/97 season Jordan saw himself being bounced off the MVP throne by Karl Malone, who won the honor with the slimmest margin one can think off. They feature a white and black make up, along with gold accents, as seen on the lacing eyelets. They are dubbed the Taxi’s, as the arch area and outsole feature a black and yellow portion, reminiscent of NYC taxi cabs.The shoe itself has some history behind it, as it was inspired by the Nisshoki, which is the Japanese rising sun flag, as well as a 19th century womens dress boot. It features stitched leather which radiates outward like sun rays, and this theme extends all the way to the arch of the shoe. The arch features two large rands, which run along the midsole, and feature embossed lizard skin, similar to the Air Jordan 2.The sole, although heavy, is durable and sturdy, making these a good pair of shoes to play basketball in. The only knock on these is the lack of the inner bootie, which means that the shoe does not fit as snug as it could, or should, for that matter.

The Air Jordan 11 was released in 1995/96. Jordan was back for real and he led the Bulls to yet another NBA victory. The Air Jordan 11 Original ( OG ) - Black / True Red - White were released in April 1995 and retailed for $125. They feature a black upper, with a white midsole, and translucent red outsole, which was a highly noticeable feature of the shoe. Other features and specs include patent leather at the base of the upper, a carbon fiber spring plate, ballistic nylon uppers, a Huarache inner sleeve, quick lace system, carbon fiber sheath and air sole. They were inspired by a tuxedo, and knowing that, it is quite evident in the design. They are also the second lightest of all the Air Jordans.
The Air Jordan 10 was released in 1994/95. Michaels new found baseball career was interrupted when a player strike broke out. Rumors broke out that he would return to the basketball court and on March 19th 1995 Jordan was back on the floor.
The Air Jordan 10 Retro Steels White / Black were released on May 7, 2005, and retailed for $125. They feature a white leather upper, surrounded by black, as well as grey accents, including the lacing area, and outsole, which really draw attention to the shoe. The original colorway featured an extra piece of material on the toe, but Michael did not like it, and had it removed.The outsole features a black and grey striped design which lists many of Michael’s accomplishments, as well as a red Jumpman logo.
